Alex Oliveira got his revenge on Tim Means last night (Sat., Mar. 11, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 106 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil. The two welterweights previously met at UFC 207 this past December, which resulted in a no contest after “Dirty Bird” blasted Oliveira with illegal knees along the cage. This time around, “Cowboy” got the best of Means.
From the opening bell, Oliveira closed the distance on the feet, clinched with Means, softened him up with knees to the thighs, effortlessly picked him up and slammed him on the canvas, and scored points from top position. In Round 2, after moving to Means’ back, Oliveira was able to quickly latch a tight body lock and submit the veteran via rear-naked choke.

With this win, Oliveira improves to 4-1 in the welterweight division, losing to only Donald Cerrone. He looked phenomenal against Means and continues to showcase an evolved grappling game that pairs nicely with his unorthodox striking. At this rate, Oliveira could be knocking on the door of the top 10 by the end of the year.
