Video: Cody Garbrandt receives stem cell injections for injured back

UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt revealed earlier this month that he has a nagging back injury that may prohibit him from fighting rival T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 213 on July 8 in Las Vegas. Despite his concerns about his ailing back, Garbrandt was referred by UFC president Dana White to see a specialist in Germany in effort to help fix his injury and keep his next title defense on schedule.

In the above video courtesy of Fancy Combat, “No Love” can be seen taking some serious stem cell injections in his back. The procedure may have only taken a few minutes, but it could be a life saver for Garbrandt in 2017. His matchup with Dillashaw at UFC 213 will undoubtedly be his biggest payday to date, so the champ must do everything in his power to assure it actually happens.

Only time will tell if Garbrandt’s back holds up during his upcoming training camp, but it’s good to see he’s taking White’s advice and seeking the proper medical care.
