Mike BrownThe UFC has found a replacement for an injured Chan Sung Jung who was to have fought Rani Yahya (15-6) at this months UFC Fight for the Troops 2 event. Stepping in for the injured Korean will be former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown (24-7).

News of Jung’s withdrawal came Friday afternoon and MMAjunkie.com reported Brown as the replacement Friday evening, noting the fighter volunteered to step in.

Brown, who appeared at last weekends UFC 125 event, is looking for some redemption as he lost a split decision to Diego Nunes on the preliminary card. Brown is 2-3 in his last five fights and has had a rough run since losing the WEC title to Jose Aldo back in November of 2009.

Since then he’s traded wins and losses going on to submit Anthony Morrison at WEC 46, then get KO’d by Manvel Gamburyan at WEC 48, he’d earn a TKO victory against Cole Province at WEC 51 and then lose to Nunes last Saturday.

His opponent, Yahya, is the loser of his past two and is 3-2 in his last five fights. This fight will mark his UFC debut and his future with the promotion will certainly hinge on a win for him. His last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 48, and previous to that he suffered a TKO loss to Joseph Benavidez at WEC 45.

UFC Fight for the Troops 2, or UFC Fight Night 23, will take place on Jan. 22 at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas.
