A featherweight bout is on tap between former WEC fighters Cub Swanson (15-4) and Erick Koch (11-1) for the the upcoming UFC on Versus 3 event in March. Both fighters will make their UFC debut at the fight.
MMAjunkie.com was the first to report the fight, citing a source close to the event who noted both men had agreed and that the contract was being finalized. No word was provided by the source whether the fight would make the televised card, but in all likely hood both men will fight on the preliminary card.
Swanson was 6-3 under the WEC promotion, having won three “Fight of the Night” bonuses in his last three wins and has traded wins for losses in his last five fights. He faced Mackens Semerzier in his last appearance at WEC 52 in November, earning a close split decision, and lost a unanimous decision to Chad Mendes at WEC 50 in August.
Koch is 3-1 and is riding a two fight win streak. He also appeared on the WEC 52 card against Francisco Rivera, earning the “Knockout of the Night” bonus after TKOing Rivera in the first round. He submitted Bendy Casimir at WEC 49 and suffered his first career loss to Chad Mendes at WEC 47 via unanimous decision.
