Bringing you the weird and the wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Cody Garbrandt is known for his lethal fists, not his savvy trash talk. Today he may have inadvertently admitted too much while exchanging verbal barbs with TJ Dillashaw at the UFC 217 pre-fight press conference.
Did Cody say TJ showed everybody how to do it (PEDs) on Alpha Male? Isnt he basically saying TAM uses PEDs then? pic.twitter.com/oAoJkLK1I6
— Zombie Prophet (@ZPGIFs) November 2, 2017
Garbrandt: Oh, yeah, the guy’s on everything.
Dillashaw (sarcastically): Yeah, I’m on everything. They test me every day. I’m on everything.
Garbrandt: Funny, you’re the one who showed everyone how to do it on Team Alpha Male.
If true, it means that “everyone” at Team Alpha Male learned how to do steroids from Cody… implying that several fighters at the California-based gym are or have been on steroids. Fighters and insiders often claim “everyone is on steroids”, but admitting your teammates are too, at an official UFC press conference, isn’t exactly the best look.
TJ took to Twitter to respond:
So now I’m a drug lord? And all of TAM admits to being on steroids! Codys not the sharpest tool in the shed, but definitely a tool! https://t.co/3LH2D9sRcX
— TJ Dillashaw (@TJDillashaw) November 2, 2017
That wasn’t the end of the exchange, of course. TJ and Cody also went back and forth on who got the better of whom in the gym. This may be the exchange that prompted Garbrandt to finally release the footage that shows him dropping Dillashaw in a sparring session.

Here’s that infamous clip, looking like Cody took a video of a computer screen on his phone. It looks a little like that one time Cody got knocked out, before he turned professional in MMA.
This KO was referenced by Dominick Cruz before Garbrandt schooled him in their bout:
Garbrandt claimed his knockdown of Dillashaw would indeed have been a KO in a fight
Lmao he couldn’t even walk after that strike hit him I would of pounded his skull in.

The memes have already been updated:
Paulie Malignaggi, who will never ever let it go:
Looks like a push down to me. What do you think @PaulMalignaggi ? https://t.co/OgGmQQIWGu

Insomnia
I can’t wait for this Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas go to war, either. What a treat UFC 217 is.
— caposa (@Grabaka_Hitman) November 2, 2017
The icy cold stare of Rose is the perfect foil to the pathological aggression of Joanna.
That wasn’t a punch, a punch would have knocked her out, it was just a tap. | To nie by? cios, bo cios by j? po?… https://t.co/7zRe4C37eB pic.twitter.com/IZbcDVN5hq

The Ali Act could change the MMA landscape for the better. Congress has a hearing on it November 9th! Also, it looks like Kajan Johnson needs to charge his phone.

I’ll say it now: Derek Brunson would knock Luke Rockhold out cold.
I got two guys in my sights & they both knocked your ass out. You’re not on my level & you’re not worth my time.

This was amazing. An employee who was leaving does for 11 minutes what Twitter should have done months ago.
Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.
— Twitter Government (@TwitterGov) November 3, 2017
Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal review. https://t.co/mlarOgiaRF
