Bringing you the weird and the wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Cody Garbrandt is known for his lethal fists, not his savvy trash talk. Today he may have inadvertently admitted too much while exchanging verbal barbs with TJ Dillashaw at the UFC 217 pre-fight press conference.

Garbrandt: Oh, yeah, the guy’s on everything.

Dillashaw (sarcastically): Yeah, I’m on everything. They test me every day. I’m on everything.

Garbrandt: Funny, you’re the one who showed everyone how to do it on Team Alpha Male.

If true, it means that “everyone” at Team Alpha Male learned how to do steroids from Cody… implying that several fighters at the California-based gym are or have been on steroids. Fighters and insiders often claim “everyone is on steroids”, but admitting your teammates are too, at an official UFC press conference, isn’t exactly the best look.

TJ took to Twitter to respond:

That wasn’t the end of the exchange, of course. TJ and Cody also went back and forth on who got the better of whom in the gym. This may be the exchange that prompted Garbrandt to finally release the footage that shows him dropping Dillashaw in a sparring session.

Here’s that infamous clip, looking like Cody took a video of a computer screen on his phone. It looks a little like that one time Cody got knocked out, before he turned professional in MMA.

This KO was referenced by Dominick Cruz before Garbrandt schooled him in their bout:

Garbrandt claimed his knockdown of Dillashaw would indeed have been a KO in a fight

Insomnia

I can’t wait for this Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas go to war, either. What a treat UFC 217 is.

The icy cold stare of Rose is the perfect foil to the pathological aggression of Joanna.

I can honestly say this does nothing for me.

The Ali Act could change the MMA landscape for the better. Congress has a hearing on it November 9th! Also, it looks like Kajan Johnson needs to charge his phone.

I’ll say it now: Derek Brunson would knock Luke Rockhold out cold.

All time great tweet from the Greatest Tweeter, Tito Ortiz
