Former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Sara McMann (11-4) will welcome Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya (10-3, 1 NC) to the Octagon at UFC on FOX 28 on Feb. 24 from inside Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., per recent social media posts by both fighters.
McMann, 37, has looked tremendous since the beginning of 2016, but dropped an upset submission loss to rising Brazilian contender Ketlen Vieira back at UFC 215. The former Olympic medalist still has a lot left in the tank and could make another push towards title contention with a win over “Foxy” this February.
Kunitskaya, 28, is coming off a decision win over Raquel Pa’aluhi this past August to claim the vacant Invicta FC bantamweight crown after Tony Evinger left it behind to fight Cris Cyborg. The Russian striker is one of Holly Holm’s main training partners and could be in line for a quick rise to prominence in 2018 should she get past a proven veteran like McMann in her UFC debut.
While UFC on FOX 28 currently has no main event in place, former middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero will meet former World Series of Fighting two-division champion David Branch, and top strawweights Jessica Andrade and Tecia Torres will battle it out for potential No. 1 contender rights.
