A matchup over a decade in the making unfolded earlier tonight (Sat., April 28, 2018) at Bellator 198 live on Paramount Network from inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, when mixed martial arts (MMA) heavyweight legends Fedor Emelianenko and Frank Mir collided in epic fashion
While Mir caught and stunned Fedor early on, it was “Last Emperor” who landed the more meaningful shot, blasting the former UFC champion with a short left uppercut inside and sending him to the canvas. Emelianenko piled on a few more insurance punches before referee Mike Beltran jumped in and saved a downed Mir, resulting in a 48-second first-round TKO finish for Fedor.

With this performance, Emelianenko puts a stamp on his return to the Bellator cage and sends Mir packing in his promotional debut. “Last Emperor” had to eat a shot or two to get inside on the bigger heavyweight, but proved he still has one-punch power when Mir stepped in range.
Barring any unfortunate injuries, Fedor will now take on Chael Sonnen in the semi-final round of Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament. That should be a fun one.
