Khabib Nurmagomedov is quickly becoming one of the most talked about fighters in combat sports today. After handily submitting Conor McGregor at UFC 229 the undefeated UFC lightweight champion has seen his notoriety hit an all-time high.

No surprise here. There were over 2.4 million eyes watching Khabib’s destruction of “Notorious” earlier this month in Las Vegas.

As a result of his efforts, Khabib has been ushered back home with celebratory arms. Not only did “Eagle” receive a hero’s welcome when he landed back in Russia but he was also presented with “The First Russian UFC Champion” cup earlier this week prior to a Russian Premier League soccer match between Anzhi Makhachkala and CSKA Moscow in Dagestan (h/t Russian news outlet RT).

Before receiving the “1st Russian UFC champ” cup Khabib was driven around the Anzhi Arena to hoist his UFC lightweight belt high and proud:

Khabib also performed a ceremonial kick to get the match started:

While Khabib’s UFC 229 win was slightly marred by a post-fight brawl with Team McGregor, the Russian champion proved he deserves consideration for greatest lightweight of all time. At the end of the day, Khabib has never lost a round in UFC competition en route to a legendary 27-0 professional record.

The Russian fans have quickly taken notice of Khabib’s dominance and are doing everything in their power to show their appreciation, evident by the custom champion cup offered to Nurmagomedov earlier this week in Dagestan.

Khabib’s growing fan base will be waiting patiently as the UFC champion visits Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) this coming week to receive punishment for his role in the UFC 229 brawl.
