One of the sickest knockout finishes of all time transpired last night (Sat., Nov. 10, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 139 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, as Yair Rodriguez put a stop to “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung via knockout (elbow) with one second left in the fight.
In what was one of the best five-round featherweight affairs in recent memory, both Rodriguez and Korean Zombie landed devastating shots at every turn. Rodriguez gained the upper hand in the earlier frames before Jung bounced back and landed combinations in bunches down the stretch.
As both contenders pushed forward late into the fifth round the final blow was bound to show. During a flurry of strikes in the final few seconds of the fight Rodriguez landed a ridiculous no-look elbow that instantly put Korean Zombie to sleep, tying “El Pantera” with Demetrious Johnson for latest finish in UFC history (4:59 of Round 5).

With this performance, Rodriguez gets back into the 145-pound win column after losing in bloody fashion to Frank Edgar back at UFC 211. The talented striker may have been on the cusp of losing this short-notice fight so the final elbow truly meant everything.
This is one of those type of knockouts that will be played on the highlight reel for a very long time.
