In his second fight in just over two months, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will walk away with a cool $500,000 fight purse later this evening (Sat., Mar. 2, 2019) at UFC 235 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This is according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), who released UFC 235’s preliminary salary report to MMA Fighting earlier tonight.
Jones, who reclaimed his title with a TKO win over Alexander Gustafsson back at UFC 232 in December, will be defending his title against surging contender Anthony Smith. For his efforts later tonight against Jones, “Lionheart” will bank $350,000 flat.
In the co-main event, reigning UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will defend his title against streaking contender Kamaru Usman, who has compiled an unbeaten 9-0 UFC record since his debut in 2015. Woodley, who is coming off a submission win over Darren Till back in September, will bank $500,000 for his efforts, while Usman, who is making his PPV main card debut, will walk away with $350,000.
