Gunnar Nelson will try to continue his comeback campaign tomorrow night (Sat., Mar. 16, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 5 from inside The O2 Arena in London, England, when he takes on streaking welterweight contender Leon Edwards in the co-main event.
This will be Nelson’s first fight on U.K. soil since submitting Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night 107 back in 2017.
Nelson, 30, remains one of the most talented fighters on the UFC’s 170-pound roster. The Icelandic submission specialist did drop a disappointing knockout loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio back in July of 2017, but “Gunni” still holds a 8-3 divisional record, which includes a recent submission win over Alex Oliveira at UFC 231 this past December.
In advance to Nelson’s return to the cage, the promotion has released a highlight reel of his best UFC stoppages. Considering Nelson has already compiled seven finishes and four Performance of the Night bonuses in just 11 visits to the Octagon, there was a lot of action to sift through.

While Nelson’s resume speaks for itself, it’s not going to matter when he stands across from Edwards this weekend in London. “Gunni” will have to put his past accomplishments aside to ward off one of the hottest fighters in the welterweight division and prove that he’s once again a dangerous contender on the rise.
