Frankie_Edgar2UFC lightweight champion Frankie “The Truth” Edgar (13-1-1) is busy preparing himself for his third fight with Gray Maynard, a back-to-back rematch for his title with “The Bully” after both men fought to a draw on the Jan. 1 main event bout of UFC 125.

Edgar looked to be all but done in the first round but fought back through the next four to fight to the draw, retaining his title and earning the “Fight of the Night” bonus.

In a recent interview with Tapology.com, Edgar who is considered a small lightweight, answered questions about his upcoming fight with Maynard and whether he’d ever consider fighting at 145 lbs.

“I’m not considering it right now with this fight looming with Gray, but I probably can make 145lbs. It’s definitely a good option to have with the UFC acquiring the featherweight division now; there are some good potential match-ups for me at that weight class. Who knows how I’ll fare at 145 though. Just because you’re going down doesn’t mean you’re going to be dominant. I will be cutting weight, I will be giving up speed, but I will be gaining size, so there are a lot of ways you have to look at it.”

Edgar and Maynard will meet on May 28 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the main event of UFC 130.
