A bantamweight bout between Renan Barão (25-1, 1NC) and Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (9-1) looks to be in the works for the upcoming “The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale” event in June.
Tatame.com was the first to report the news this morning, citing a source close to the bout and noting that both fighters have agreed to meet but the contract has yet to be signed.
Barão will make his UFC debut at the “TUF Finale” after two wins in the WEC. The Brazilian is on a 26 fight undefeated streak which includes a 15 straight wins after a “No Contest” bout in December of 2007. Barão was last in the cage for WEC 53, the promotions final event, where he earned a first round submission win over Chris Cariaso. He made his WEC debut at the WEC 49 event in Edmonton, Canada earning a third round submission over Anthony Leone. Both Barão (141.5) and Leone (142) missed weight for their fight agreeing to a 142 lbs catchweight bout.
“The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale” is unofficially scheduled for June 4 at the Pearl at the Palms Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
