Erik KochOn Wednesday, we reported that an injury to featherweight Cub Swanson had forced the fighter to withdraw from his upcoming UFC on Versus 3 (aka UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann) bout with Erik Koch (11-1) and that the promotion was looking for a replacement.

On Friday, Ariel Helwani, at Versus.com, is reporting that instead of finding a new opponent Koch has been pulled from the card due to the short notice. The UFC on Versus 3 event takes place in one weeks time.

The event was to have been Koch’s UFC debut who moves over from the WEC after a 3-1 record. His last fight took place in November at WEC 52, he earned a first round TKO victory over Franciasco Rivera, which also won him the “Knockout of the Night” bonus. The victory sees him at two in a row now, with the other win coming over Bendy Casimir at WEC 49, a triangle choke submission at the promotions first Canadian visit.

UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann takes place on March 3 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky and is headlined by a welterweight bout between Diego Sanchez vs. Martin Kampmann.
