Lightweight veteran Jim Miller looked as good as ever earlier tonight (Sat., April 27, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 8 live on ESPN+ from inside BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when he ran through veteran Jason Gonzalez via first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Miller had to overcome the size and reach advantage of Gonzalez in the early going but the New Jersey native quickly went to work. After landing some sticking punches on the feet Miller was able to grab a hold of Gonzalez along the cage. A quick transition to the back allowed Miller to wrap his arm around Gonzalez’s neck and squeeze through his opponent’s defense with relative ease to force the tap.

With this performance, Miller jumps back into the 155-pound win column after suffering a submission loss to Charles Oliveira back in December. The 35-year-old veteran also secured his 11th career finish in the UFC’s lightweight division, which is only second to Joe Lauzon (12). While Miller isn’t going to contend for a UFC title at this point in his career he’s still a relevant threat in one of the most stacked weight classes in the sport.
