Warlley Alves looked tremendous earlier tonight (Sat., May 11, 2019) at UFC 237 from inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, en route to finishing Brazilian counterpart Sergio Moraes via third-round knockout (punch).

Alves and Moraes both landed in bunches, but it was Alves who did the most damage with combinations and crippling leg kicks. Moraes tried to shake it off but the damage was visibly on his lead leg. In the third round, Alves turned the heat up and trapped Moraes along the cage. That’s where he landed a brutal right-handed uppercut that slumped Moraes and forced the referee’s hand.

With this performance, Alves jumps back into the welterweight win column after dropping a TKO loss to James Krause last August. The 28-year-old still possesses top 10 potential but hasn’t been able to string together good success inside of the Octagon since starting his UFC career off at 4-0. But as the only fighter to ever defeat Colby Covington there’s a good chance Alves quickly climbs the 170-pound ladder in 2019.
