Douglas Lima became the first person to defeat Michael “Venom” Page earlier tonight (Sat., May 11, 2019) at Bellator 221 live on DAZN from inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, when he stopped MVP with a brutal second-round knockout (punch).
The first round of this welterweight co-main event offered little action as Lima gained top control and laid on Page for most of the round. In the second, MVP started to gain confidence on the feet and began his showboating act. Lima took advantage by launching a heavy low kick that sent Page flying to the canvas. As MVP was getting back to his feet Lima caught him flush with a right hook to the chin. Page fell face first back to the ground, Lima scored two more vicious right punches, and the referee quickly stepped in for the stoppage.

With this performance, Lima becomes the first fighter to defeat MVP inside of the cage. “Phenom” was the biggest test of Page’s Bellator career so this wasn’t that much of a surprise, but the work of Lima has now left one of Bellator’s biggest stars no longer undefeated. The win also propels Lima into the next round of Bellator’s Welterweight Grand Prix Tournament.
