Undefeated MMA sensation Kayla Harrison will return to action at PFL 15 on July 11 from inside Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J, when she takes on knockout specialist Morgan Frier in the co-main event.
The women’s lightweight bout was initially reported by ESPN and later confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Harrison, 28, is coming off a decision win over Brazilian veteran Larissa Pacheco earlier this month at PFL 12 in Uniondale, New York. It was the first career decision win for the two-time Olympic Judo gold medalist but ultimately helped Harrison earn three points in PFL’s women’s lightweight standings. The victory also pushed Harrison’s professional MMA record to 4-0 and further proved that she’s gearing up for a true takeover here in 2019.
Frier, 28, is coming off a submission loss to former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman also at PFL 12 earlier this month. The California fighter had produced four-straight, sub-one minute finishes before that and remains one of the best strikers in PFL’s talented women’s lightweight division. Frier is going to have her hands full with the grappling of Harrison, but maybe she can give the Olympic standout a run for her money if she can land a few punches on the feet.
PFL 15 will also feature the return of Russian finisher Magomed Magomedkerimov as he takes on welterweight veteran Chris Curtis in the main event. Remember, Magomedkerimov is coming off a second-round submission win over Ray Cooper III back in December to claim the PFL welterweight championship and a whopping $1 million.
Playoff qualification and seeding for the 2019 PFL postseason is expected to be finalized following the July 11 event.
