Former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland looked tremendous earlier tonight (Sat., June 8, 2019) at UFC 238 from inside United Center in Chicago, Ill., when he put a brutal stop to Octagon newcomer Grigory Popov via second-round knockout (punch).

While Popov proved to have a chin on the level of some of UFC’s finest, he simply couldn’t stomach the long-lasting punishment that Wineland was dishing out. After landing an abundant of right hands that put Popov on his butt in the second round the UFC veteran launched one final right that spun the bantamweight newcomer around and forced the referee stoppage.

With this performance, Wineland gets back into the 135-pound win column after dropping back-to-back decision losses to John Dodson and Alejandro Perez. Even at the age of 34, Wineland can still get it done inside of the cage so it will be interesting to see where this finish takes him as the second half of 2019 plays out.
