In a few short weeks UFC welterweights Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (23-8, 1NC) and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (8-3) will step into the octagon to square off at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 24 event in Seattle, Washington.
Both men have losses on their records and will look for a victory on March 26 in the Key Arena, but it’s Hardy’s technique that will win him the bout according to Rough House teammate Ross Pearson.
Pearson, who is coming off his own victory over Spencer Fisher in Sydney, Australia as part of UFC 127, spoke to ESPN UK about Hardy’s upcoming fight and offered his thoughts on how his teammate matches up to the much bigger Johnson.
“It’s a very tough fight for Dan. We all know about Anthony’s ability and size, his athleticism is strong, but I see Dan being much more technical. Dan will keep things nice and tight, he won’t get too loose with his hands, and he’ll take him out with perfect technique. If everything goes well, Dan can pull out a good victory over him. 100 per cent it’s technique over athleticism. If you were to put them against each other on an athleticism scale, Anthony Johnson would win. But Dan’s just got to stick to the gameplan and keep basic, simple technique, and that’ll win him the fight.”
