Chan Sung Jung, better known by his infamous moniker “Korean Zombie,” will make his return to the Octagon at UFC on ESPN+ 12 on June 22 live on ESPN+ from inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, when he takes on Brazilian contender Renato Moicano in an ultra-important featherweight main event.
Korean Zombie, 32, is coming off a masterful performance against highly-touted contender Yair Rodriguez back at UFC Denver this past November, Unfortunately, Rodriguez landed a last-second, no-look elbow that knocked the South Korean out cold (HIGHLIGHTS HERE). It was a disastrous ending for Korean Zombie in just his second fight back from a four-year absence.
In preparation for Zombie’s return to action, UFC has dug deep into the vault and released one of the best performances of the featherweight’s exciting career. The full fight video, which can be seen above, features Jung’s 2011 clash with Leonard Garcia. In a rematch from their first meeting under the WEC banner, Korean Zombie was able to get a hold of Garcia on the ground towards the end of the second round and transition into a rare twister submission attempt. Garcia couldn’t survive to the bell and Jung walked away with one of the most elusive finishes in UFC history.
Only time will tell if Korean Zombie is able to add Moicano to his list of finishes and regain momentum in the UFC’s stacked featherweight division.
