UFC light heavyweights Krzysztof “The Polish Experiment” Soszynski (25-11-1) and Anthony “The Hippo” Perosh (11-6) have verbally agreed to meet at the yet-to-be announced UFC 131 event in Vancouver.
MMAjunkie.com reported the news on Friday afternoon after confirming the bout with sources close to the event. No word at this time if the bout will take place on the main or preliminary card for the pay-per-view event.
Polish-Canadian Soszynski is 1-1 and 2-2 in his last four bouts. He enters the bout on a victory after earning a unanimous decision against Goran Reljic at UFC 122 in Germany last November. Previous to that match, Soszynski had back-to-back bouts with Stephan Bonnar, going 1-1 with “The American Psycho.” Both men earned the “Fight of the Night” bonus in the second bout, with Bonnar earning a second round TKO at UFC 116. Their first match took place at UFC 110 with “The Polish Experiment” earning a third round TKO victory after the match was stopped due to an accidental cut to Bonnar’s head.
Perosh sports the same record in his last four bouts but has only fought twice in the last two years. Both matches were for the UFC in the promotions two visits to Australia. “The Hippo” earned a first round submission against Tom Blackledge last month at UFC 127 in a 205 lb bout. The other fight took place at heavyweight with Perosh meeting Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovi? at UFC 110, with the Croatian walking away with a second round TKO win do to doctor’s stoppage. This is the Australians second run with the UFC who fought twice in 2006 and sports an overall record of 1-3.
UFC 131 will take place on June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between “TUF 13″ coaches Brock Lesnar vs. Junior dos Santos.
