Chan Sung Jung looked the part of budding title contender last night (Sat., June 22, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 12 live on ESPN+ from inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, when he flattened featherweight counterpart Renato Moicano via 58-second TKO.
This was “Korean Zombie’s” second win since returning to action back in 2017 — it would have been his third if not for a legendary no-look elbow by Yair Rodriguez last November — and another performance that puts the veteran fighter on the doorstep of title contention as the second half of 2019 approaches.
Knowing this, fellow featherweight contender Jeremy Stephens wasted little time reaching out to “Korean Zombie” after his knockout win and offering up a challenge:
I’ll take the @KoreanZombieMMA next! Let’s go @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc it’s the most exciting fight to make. Congrats on quick work, see ya soon!

“I’ll take the @KoreanZombieMMA next! Let’s go @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc it’s the most exciting fight to make. Congrats on quick work, see ya soon!,” wrote Stephens via Twitter.
Stephens, 33, is coming off back-to-back losses to rising contender Zabit Magomedsharipov and former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo so it’s going to be hard to justify “Lil Heathen” landing a matchup with Jung. However, Stephens remains one of the most entertaining fighters on the UFC roster and would certainly force “Korean Zombie” into a fire fight if the two were ever to meet.
Jung has yet to respond to Stephens’ call out, but he’s always been the type of fighter to take on any challenger, especially if UFC pushes for it. “Korean Zombie” may be better suited for a matchup with the aforementioned Zabit at this point in time, but a clash with Stephens would serve as a nice Fight Night main event.
