Song Yadong cashed in on a prime opportunity earlier tonight (Sat., July 6, 2019) at UFC 239 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he flattened veteran bantamweight Alejandro Perez via first-round knockout (punch).
Despite opening up the ESPN “Prelims” card, Yadong looked incredibly comfortable. He waded through the unorthodox movement of Perez to get inside and threaten with power punches. During an exchange mid-way through the first, Yadong landed a titanic right counter that clipped Perez and instantly sent him to the canvas. An unnecessary insurance shot was landed by Yadong to assure the stoppage.

With this performance, Yadong pushes his UFC record to an impressive 4-0 and secures the biggest victory of his career. The 21-year-old has shown an incredible level of comfort so early into his UFC career and has paired that with the ability to finish fights with his hands and grappling. UFC may take the slow track with Yadong moving forward, but he’s quickly turning into a future contender at 135 pounds.
