Undefeated middleweight Rodolfo Vieira did was he was supposed to do earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 14 live on ESPN+ from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, when he utilized his jiu-jitsu to take out Oskar Piechota via second-round submission (arm-triangle choke).
After a back-and-forth first round that saw both middleweights score points on the feet and in scrambles, Vieira was able to take over in the second with his takedowns. During an exchange along the cage the Brazilian grappler was quick to move into full mount. Vieira ignored the opportunity of landing fists to the face of Piechota in favor of securing full mount and moving over for the choke.

With this performance, Vieira cashes in on his main card debut and proves that he has skill on the feet along with his elite ground game. The 29-year-old middleweight could very well make quick work of all fighters outside of the division’s top 15, so he may be a contender to watch heading into 2020.
