Valentina Shevchenko was as dominant as ever last night (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 14 live on ESPN+ from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, when she beat down former UFC bantamweight title challenger Liz Carmouche for 25-straight minutes en route to a unanimous decision win and another successful defense of her UFC women’s flyweight title.

It was a slow first round as Carmouche took her time engaging the champion. There was even more feeling out in the second frame as Carmouche faked takedowns to try and throw Shevchenko off. “Bullet” didn’t take the bait and started to press forward to engage with leg kicks and combinations down the middle. Carmouche kept her distance and bounced around the outside waiting for her turn to jump in. It never came.

The third round saw Carmouche land a little more with kicks to Shevchenko’s lead leg, but Shevchenko responded with a straight left that sent “Girl-Rilla” to the canvas. Carmouche would get back up but then found herself on her back after a big Shevchenko takedown along the cage. Carmouche ended the round with zero significant strikes.

Carmouche tried to make something happen in the fourth by going back to her leg kicks but Shevchenko was there to counter with a superman punch and her own barrage of leg kicks. Shevchenko would follow that up with a spinning back fist that dropped Carmouche and allowed the champion to score valuable top time to end the round. In the fifth frame, Carmouche tried to change her fortune by going in for her own takedown, but “Bullet” defended and gained top control yet again. From there, the champion would grind Carmouche away and cruise to yet another dominant title defense.
