UFC featherweight Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia (15-6-1) has gone to a split decision in four straight fights, earning him three “Fight of the Night” bonuses. Now he’ll get a chance to rematch one of those opponents this Saturday in a fight fans will remember as ‘Fight of the Year’ for 2010.
He meets Chan Sung Jung (aka the ‘Korean Zombie’) in Seattle on the main card of UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis, after his original opponent Nam Phan dropped out due to injury.
Speaking to UFC.com, Garcia talked about his fears going into any fight, one being considered a boring fighter, and how it motivates him to put on a good show for fans.
“I never want somebody to walk away from the UFC where I fought on the card saying ‘man, that fight was boring. I’d never watch that guy fight again.’ That’s one of my biggest fears and I hope to never have that…”
“The fear going into a fight like that is I know he can take it and he’s not going anywhere. He’s gonna be right there. So you question yourself and wonder if you’re ready for a 15 minute war. I’ve answered that question several times and physically I know that I am, and mentally, it’s just gonna be a great fight.”
Garcia is coming off a controversial win over Phan last December at the “TUF 12 Finale” and both had been scheduled to rematch till Phan’s injury. “Bad Boy” is 2-1 in his last three fights, which includes a win over Jung and a loss to top contender Mark Hominick.
