Reigning WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (28-0-1, 20 KOs) will make his walk to the ring later this evening (Sat., Sept. 14, 2019) live on ESPN+ from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he takes on undefeated Swedish prospect Otto Wallin (20-0-1 NC, 13 KOs) in the main event of the evening.
This will be Fury’s second fight since signing an exclusive deal with ESPN and Top Rank Boxing earlier this year. His first fight was a smashing success as the towering Englishman finished German power puncher Tom Schwarz via second-round TKO back in June.
As part of Fury’s deal he stands to bank a guaranteed $1 million fight purse, per CBS Sports’ Brent Brookhouse. That obviously excludes any money Fury might bring in from the live gate, merchandise, and so forth. It’s certainly lower than the $3 million he earned for his showdown with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder last December, which ended in a memorable draw, but that’s understandable given the disparity in skill between “Bronze Bomber” and Wallin.
While Fury is trying to knock off Wallin in order to pad his resume for a rematch with Wilder early next year, Wallin is trying to pull off one of the biggest upsets at the heavyweight level. The massive +1500 underdog will bank a cool $250,000 for his main event services, which will end up being just his second career fight on U.S. soil.
Needless to say, “All In” will have the odds stacked against him, especially when it comes to the size and reach he’s giving up to Fury. We’ll find out one way or another if Wallin has the ability to last deep into the main event showdown as Fury tries to make quick work of yet another opponent not named Wilder.
