UFC 244 press conference had some of the worst questions in recent memory.

Thursday night in New York, a press conference for UFC 244 was held to promote the headlining “BMF” title bout between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal. There’s a lot of mutual respect between the two fighters, so the lack of hostile smack talk was already expected, but the amount of terrible and unnecessary questions they fielded weren’t.

“We’ve got to hand the microphone to the audience soon,” Masvidal quipped at one point. “The media keeps asking the same questions.”

Apart from a number of off-topic and uninteresting queries, one specific instance was also especially cringe worthy, with Diaz being heckled about his diet.

“Hey Nate, so you call yourself a bad ass motherf—ker,” a guy wearing a Tom Brady shirt said. “How can you say that when you’re a vegan?”

Diaz took a look at him, before chuckling and responding. “I’m harder than anybody here. What’s up?”

“I guess we’ll find out then,” the media member replied.

“Step your game up, dog,” Diaz told him. He then answered another unnecessary question about his CBD company, before going back to the heckler.

“…and the Terminator is a vegan, motherf—ker.”

The press conference was open to the public, but the heckler wasn’t just a random fan. He was credentialed media from an outlet called Morning Blitz, which is apparently a sports email newsletter, with 285 followers on Twitter as of this writing.

For what its worth, Diaz has gone on record in the past to say that he’s “not 100% vegan,” as he eats eggs and a little bit of seafood from time to time. Nick and Nate also spoke about having a mostly vegetarian diet with the late Anthony Bourdain a few years ago.
