Daniel Cormier reacts to Cain Velasquez’ epic WWE debut.
Cain Velasquez is making waves in the world of professional wrestling.
After winning over the crowd at AAA’s Invading NY event in September, Velasquez has officially signed with the WWE.
Velasquez made his WWE debut at WWE Smackdown on Friday night, and the former UFC heavyweight champion did not disappoint.
The 37-year-old stormed the WWE ring to meet a familiar foe, Brock Lesnar. Velasquez battered Lesnar to win the UFC heavyweight title almost nine years ago at UFC 121, and the American Kickboxing Academy product picked up right from where he left off at WWE Smackdown, tackling Lesnar to the ground and pummelling him with ground-and-pound.
A terror-stricken Lesnar desperately rolled out the ring and retreated with manager Paul Heyman.

MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer reports that a rematch between Velasquez and Lesnar will take place in the WWE ring later this month, Oct. 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“Lesnar vs. Velasquez will take place at WWE’s huge money show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Oct. 31. The Saudi Arabian government pays WWE in excess of $40 million apiece to put on two shows every year, making it the most lucrative events the company runs even though interest in the U.S. in these shows is minimal.”
