Europe’s premier grappling show is back with one of its biggest matches to date.

Now that ADCC is over, nogi jiu-jitsu junkies are clamoring for another fix, but fear not as Polaris have announced a match between grappling greats for their next show.

Joao Miyao, fighting out of Unity Jiu Jitsu in New York, is a numerous time world champion, winning black belt gold in both the gi and nogi divisions. Miyao holds wins over some of the biggest names in BJJ and recently won the KASAI bantamweight tournament. It was in that tournament where a controversial match took place with Ashley Williams that many had Miyao losing, but was ultimately declared a draw.

Williams is one of the worlds most underrated grapplers. While he is a Polaris lightweight champ, Williams doesn’t compete that often in the US so his name hasn’t garnered the reputation it deserves. Williams has a win over Imanari and recently won the Polaris title against Danaher Death Squad standout Ethan Crelinsten. After the controversial decision at Kasai, Williams had been vocal about wanting a rematch and Polaris granted him the opportunity as well as the chance to become the second person to become a two-division champion after Craig Jones.

Polaris 12 takes place at the international Convention Centre (ICC) in Newport and will air live on UFC Fight Pass.
