Rising heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane proved he’s the real deal yet again earlier today (Sat., Oct. 26, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 162 live on ESPN+ from inside Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, when he finished Octagon newcomer Don’tale Mayes via third-round submission (heel hook).
Gane was in control of this fight from the opening bell and almost finished the heavyweight affair on a few occasions. Mayes hung in tough, though, and survived all of the punishment the French heavyweight was dishing out, but ultimately met his demise in Round. Gane was able to score a late takedown and launch sharp ground-and-pound. Mayes was softened up and allowed Gane to position himself for the heel hook finish and eventual tap.

With this performance, Gane locks down his second-straight Octagon finish after taking out Raphael Pessoa via arm-triangle choke back in August. Known for his striking skills and training sessions with UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou, Gane has been doing his best to show his versatility inside of the cage. The promising heavyweight finisher is certainly a contender on the rise entering 2020 and a name UFC could use for an eventual debut event in France.
