English welterweight Danny Roberts secured one of his best career finishes to date earlier today (Sat., Nov. 9, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 163 live on ESPN+ from inside CSKA Arena in Moscow, Russia, when he stopped promising Russian prospect Zelim Imadaev via second-round knockout (punch).
Both welterweights landed their share of offense in the early going as Roberts relied on his knees inside and Imadaev waited for powerful counters. Roberts even mixed in a few takedowns along the way but couldn’t keep position. In Round 2, Roberts started to take over a bit on the feet and really started to bloody Imadaev up. In the closing seconds of the round, “Hot Chocolate” blasted Imadaev with a beautiful left hook counter that instantly shut the lights off. Imadaev fell to the canvas in a whirlwind and the referee stepped in.

With this performance, Roberts sheds consecutive defeats to Brazilians Claudio Silva and Michel Pereira to earn his first knockout win since taking out Oliver Enkamp back in 2018. The 32-year-old is still a very talented member of the UFC’s welterweight division and just received a new lease on his UFC life with this main card finish.
