Next week’s UFC on ESPN card will no longer include Mickey Gall.
There won’t be a third fight in 2019 for welterweight prospect Mickey Gall.
UFC officials confirmed to MMA Fighting on Tuesday that Gall has been pulled from UFC on ESPN 7 after they were unable to find a suitable replacement for the injured Carlos Condit.
Gall (6-2) is coming off a decision win over Salim Touahri at UFC Newark in August. It was a bounce-back performance after badly gassing out and getting outclassed by Diego Sanchez in a second-round TKO loss. He also went through an apparently torturous weight cut to make it to 170 lbs. Gall is best known for submitting former WWE star CM Punk in the latter’s MMA debut back in 2016.
Condit (30-13) is on a five-fight losing skid, including a submission defeat to Michael Chiesa at UFC 232. The former WEC welterweight and UFC interim welterweight champ withdrew from the Gall contest with a detached retina, so it’ll be awhile before “The Natural Born Killer” returns to the Octagon.
UFC on ESPN 7 goes down on Saturday, December 7th and is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Alistair Overeem and short notice replacement Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
