Frankie EdgarUFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar has trained with welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre in the past, and was recently seen training at Renzo’ Gracie’s gym in New York with the French Canadian.

Both champions are preparing to defend their titles with GSP meeting Jake Shields in just a week at UFC 129 in Toronto, and Edgar facing Gray Maynard in a title rematch at UFC 130 on May 28.

Edgar was asked by Tatame.com about St-Pierre’s upcoming fight as well, as his thoughts on a “Super-Fight” between the Canadian and UFC middleweight title holder Anderson Silva.

GSP is now fighting Jake Shields. What do you think about this fight?
I think they are both very good guys… Jake hasn’t loss in six years and GSP has been running though everybody. I think Georges’ best chances are on his feet, and Jake’s best chances are on the mat. Who’s gonna dictate, that’s what it’s coming down to.

Besides Jake, do you think Georges still has challenges in his division?
I mean, there’s always gonna be someone new coming up to challenge you, but right now he has cleaned up the welterweight division almost twice (laughs). So, it’s gonna be tough for him to get some challenges, but I’m sure there’ll be kids coming up, you know.

If he comes up and fights Anderson, what do you expect?
Now we’re worried about him against Shields, but I think his best bet is getting him to the ground, and for Anderson is standing up. But I think Georges is more dynamic than most of the guys Anderson has fought, but as I said: Anderson has running through everybody (laughs). So, as a fan, that’s a fight I’d love to see.
