Tony Ferguson is gearing up for the biggest fight of his life, as the 35-year-old veteran readies himself for a long-awaited clash with undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 249 this April.
While Ferguson has won his last 12 trips to the Octagon, “El Cucuy” will come into his title fight showdown with Khabib as the betting underdog. The oddsmakers can’t be blamed for that as Nurmagomedov is an undefeated champion who has lost just one round inside of the cage.
Leading up to his first shot at the UFC’s undisputed 155-pound title Ferguson is adopting any and all training techniques that could give him an edge over “Eagle.” We’ve seen Ferguson dip beneath lasers like Katherine Zeta-Jones in the past, but his regimens for UFC 249 have hit an all-time high in weirdness and awesomeness.
From throwing fast balls at a tire to doing flips onto a punching bag, Ferguson delivers it all. Check out his most recent training videos below (all courtesy of Instagram).
While some might scoff at Ferguson’s unorthodox training sessions, “El Cucuy” likely has to pull out all the stops to upset Khabib later this year and prove he’s the best lightweight in the world, and maybe ever. Glad to see he is putting in the work as always.
UFC 249 will go down on April 18 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as this will be the fifth time Ferguson is scheduled to fight Khabib.
