This is UFC 246 in a few short tweets.
UFC 246 is in the books, and it saw Conor McGregor’s successful return to the Octagon, as he quickly stopped Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds. After a few creative shoulder strikes, Mcgregor landed a clean head kick, and finished it all up with some punches after to switfly win his welterweight bout.
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:
ROXY DOMINATES BARBER
PROS: YESSSSSS. It’s 2020, and Roxy is still derailing hype trains, dominating bigger, stronger foes, and defying the (crazy) odds. How can you not love that?
CONS: What is up with that doctor checking that knee? I too wish I had magic MRI powers.

FERREIRA SUBS PETTIS
PROS: Ferreira took advantage of the same holes Pettis has always shown. Got inside, pressured, & took advantage of ground exchanges to get the win
CONS: He probably shouldn’t spam that sliding entry if there’s no threat before/after https://t.co/yqgQZoulY5

KELLEHER GUILLOTINES OSBOURNE
PROS: Fun start on the feet from Ode, but a nice takedown and submission finish from Kelleher right after.
CONS: None. That was entertaining.

OLEINIK TAPS GREENE
PROS: Old Man Oleinik still getting crafty submissions in 2020. Not bad at all for the 42-year-old. I also like watching people utilize a nice kesa game in MMA.
CONS: There were a few slow moments, but nothing too big a deal.

HOLM DECISIONS PENNINGTON
PROS: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
CONS: All that wall-n-stall was expected. This is on the UFC. https://t.co/ioMS1r3iNc

MCGREGOR TKOS CERRONE EARLY
CONS: That was a bit of a late stoppage.
PROS: I hoped Cerrone could’ve made it interesting, but that was pretty much expected. McGregor just put him out early. The head kick and those shoulder strikes were very clean too.https://t.co/DAo8785czO

#UFC246 OVERALL:
PROS: Say what you want about matchmaking, but that was 40 secs, & could’ve been stopped earlier too. Conor did his job, came out unscathed. Quick turnaround?
CONS: It had nice subs, but this really was a boxing-type main card. Co-main was as bad as we thought.
