Paulo-ThiagoNews of another bout has surfaced for the UFC’s upcoming Rio event for later this August, as welterweights Paulo Thiago (13-3) and David “Daudi” Mitchell (11-1) have agreed to meet at the Brazilian event.

Thiago informed Sherdog.com of the matchup on Monday, “I’m signing my contract right now and I’m very happy. Fighting in Brazil again is like a dream. All my friends and family will be in Rio de Janeiro.”

UFC 134: Rio is expected to take place on Aug. 27 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and features the promotions second visit to the South American country. The first event took place back in 1998 with UFC 17.5: Ultimate Brazil which was headlined by a bout between Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva.

Thiago is in need of a victory when he meets the American Mitchell, as he’s lost his last two fights by decision. The Brazilian was defeated by Diego Sanchez at UFC 121, with both men earning the “Fight of the Night” bonus, and to Martin Kampmann at UFC 115. Thiago sports a .500 record in the UFC going 3-3 since his debut at UFC 95 with a TKO win over Josh Koscheck.

Mitchell made his UFC debut back in September of last year, losing his first pro-fight to TJ Waldburger at UFC Fight Night 22 by unanimous decision. “Daudi” won eleven straight bouts, nine of them by submission, before joining the UFC and participated in four straight Tachi Palace Fights events. He’s earned victories over notable names such as War machine, Tim McKenzie and Bobby Green.
