Jordan Griffin had to battle from behind earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 29, 2020) at UFC Fight Night 169 live on ESPN+ from inside Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, but the “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series” alum still managed to score his first Octagon win with a second-round submission (guillotine choke) over T.J. Brown.
Brown was able to close the distance early and essentially take Griffin down at all. Griffin would threaten with a few submissions along the way but Brown defended nicely and kept things rolling from top control. That was until the second round when Brown scored another takedown but left his head open for a choke. Griffin quickly locked his arms and started to squeeze until Brown was forced to tap.

With this performance, Griffin gets his first UFC win after coming up short on two separate occasions. The 30-year-old veteran will look to turn this finish into a string of wins at 145 pounds, but that may be easier said than done considering Griffin was losing this fight up until the submission.
