Grant Dawson had to defend guillotines galore earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 29, 2020) at UFC Fight Night 169 live on ESPN+ from inside Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, but eventually found his own submission finish when he stopped Darrick Minner via rear-naked choke in the second round.
Evident by his 20 career first-round finishes, Minner came straight out of the gate and tried to lock in a fight-ending submission. Dawson kept his cool and eventually tired the Octagon newcomer out. That allowed Dawson to gain complete control in the second round and find a home for the finish along the cage.

With this performance, Dawson locks down his third-straight UFC win in as many appearances and proves he’s one of the most dangerous submission specialists going at 145 pounds. The talented prospect will look to land a much bigger fight his next time out as Minner stepped in for this bout on just two weeks notice.
