Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced a bantamweight bout for Augusts UFC on Versus 5 event featuring mma veteran Jason Reinhardt (2-0), who drops to bantamweight for the fight, and Edwin “El Feroz” Figueroa (7-1).
“Jason Reinhardt and Edwin Figueroa have verbally agreed to face each other in a bantamweight bout, August 14th in Milwaukee,” said UFC President Dana White. “With 20 wins, Reinhardt has never gone the distance and Figueroa is coming off a sensational “Fight of The Night” performance against Michael McDonald.”
UFC on Versus 5 is expected to take place on Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Reinhardt made his UFC debut in February at UFC 127 in Australia, fighting for the first time in three years. He came up short by suffering his second career loss against Chinese fighter Tiequan Zhang by first round submission. He will test himself at 135 lbs and regain some of the momentum he had when he won 18 straight bouts.
Figueroa also dropped his UFC debut in March on the UFC Fight Night 24 card, he replaced an injured Nick Pace on less than two weeks notice. “El Feroz” lost a unanimous decision to opponent Michael McDonald at the Seattle event, but were rewarded with the “Fight of the Night” bonus. Previous to that Figueroa had won seven straight since he made his pro debut back in May of 2007, finishing all seven opponents.
