Brian Kelleher delivered the first finish of a seven-fight card earlier tonight (Sat., Sept. 5, 2020) at UFC Vegas 9 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the featherweight veteran ended Octagon newcomer Ray Rodriguez via first-round submission (guillotine choke).
While Rodriguez just found out earlier today that he’d be fighting on tonight’s card the lengthy fighter came out swinging and tried to establish his range. Kelleher got low and kept his composure, but Rodriguez moved in quickly to score a takedown along the cage. “Boom” immediately locked up Rodriguez in his patented guillotine choke and that was all she wrote.

With this performance, Kelleher improves his 2020 record to 3-1, which now includes three finishes. The 34-year-old veteran will tie a UFC record if he steps foot inside of the Octagon for a fifth time by year’s end. Look for “Boom” to make a quick turnaround in the coming months and try to earn another shot at the top 15.
