Undefeated heavyweight contender Alexandr Romanov scored an ultra-rare forearm choke submission finish earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 7, 2020) at UFC Vegas 13 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as “King Kong” stomped out Brazilian veteran Marcos Rogerio de Lima in the second round.

De Lima was able to land some good shots in the early going, including some nasty kicks to the leg, but Romanov was too quick inside and eventually put the heavyweight against the cage. Romanov would then score slamming takedowns and do some damage from top control.

After one takedown in the center of the cage Romanov was able to step over and put a forearm into the neck of de Lima. It seemed as if the Brazilian was going to easily remove Romanov’s arm from his throat, but the pressure was immense. “King Kong” held long enough to put de Lima to sleep and force the referee to step in.

This is just the second forearm choke submission in UFC history. Tank Abbott was the only other fighter to pull it off inside of the Octagon, doing so against Sam Adkins 14 years ago at UFC 11.

For Romanov, this is a massive follow-up performance from his debut just two months ago where he recorded a second-round submission finish. The Moldovan contender is quickly making a name for himself at the heavyweight level and may be able to sneak in another fight before the end of 2020.
