Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KO) will be back in action later today (Sat., Dec. 12, 2020) live on DAZN from inside The SSE Arena in London, England, to defend his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight title against Bulgarian power puncher Kubrat Pulev (28-1, 14 KO).
Joshua, 31, is coming off a unanimous decision win in a rematch with Andy Ruiz last December. Remember, Joshua lost to Ruiz in a massive TKO upset in June of 2019 and needed to reclaim his hoard of heavyweight title belts. Now that Joshua is back in the driver’s seat he’ll look to defend his crown against Pulev, winner of eight straight dating back to a knockout loss to Wladimir Klitschko in 2014.
As for the fight itself, Joshua is understandably the heavy betting favorite (-1000). Many consider Joshua to be the best pound-for-pound heavyweight boxer in the world today — even despite his loss to Ruiz last year — but Joshua has to win to keep that label next to his name entering 2021. Joshua will have the size advantage over Pulev, but we’ve seen the English heavyweight run into trouble against smaller competition before.
Fight fans won’t want to miss the action as Joshua tries to lock up a meeting with fellow heavyweight great Tyson Fury sometime next year. Check below for the full viewing details for ‘Joshua vs. Pulev’ later today on DAZN:
