UFC 258 was headlined by a welterweight title fight between two long term teammates. Not only was Gilbert Burns on an incredible run, he’s also very familiar with what Kamaru Usman brings, making him an intriguing contender for the dominant champion. Burns also came out strong, and hurt Usman. In the end though, the champion showed his veteran savvy, came back and got a TKO finish.

Round 2 – Burns brings immediate pressure. Nice jab from Usman. Again. Burns with a left hook and a body kick. They trade low kicks. Usman fades a kick and claps back with a left. Burns perseveres with the kicks. Usman looks for a thigh jab. Burns with a right hook that hurts Usman! Low kick from Burns but Usman cracks him with a jab. Usman almost drops Burns with a right hook! Burns is hurt! Another jab and right hook! Burns throws wildly but he’s obviously hurt. Usman switches stances three times in 20 seconds and is touching Usman with that jab. Burns with a low kick. Usman keeps coming. He drops Burns with a jab as he throws a low kick, then tells him to get up! This is awesome. Another jab. They trade big shots. Burns with a right hook. Usman with another jab. Low kick. Burns changes it up and looks for a takedown. Nada. 10-9 Usman.
Round 3 – Burns jabs the body and throws a low kick. Usman drops him with a left! He’s all over him! Burns tries to get up but Usman stuns him again and Burns is turtling! IT’S OVER! WHOA!
