Amanda Lemos put the UFC women’s strawweight division on notice earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 6, 2021) at UFC 259 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the Brazilian fighter finished veteran Livia Renata Souza with a lopsided first-round TKO win.
Souza looked outmatched from the opening bell as Lemos commanded the center of the Octagon and unloaded punches and kicks. Lemos was able to score a knockdown off a beautiful right hand along the cage, but Souza used her grappling to survive. Moments later, Lemos scored another knockdown off a lead jab, eventually putting the finishing touches on another UFC finish.

This win is going to go a long way for Lemos at 115 pounds. Lemos now has seven career finishes in the first round and just showed she can walk through a former world champion ranked within the top 15. It was a tremendous performance by Lemos and one that will certainly land her a massive opportunity her next time around.
