Francis Ngannou finally broke through to claim the UFC heavyweight championship last night (Sat., Mar. 27, 2021) at UFC 260 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nev., when “Predator” stopped heavyweight legend Stipe Miocic via second-round knockout (punches).
It was all Ngannou in the early going as the challenger landed sharp leg kicks and showed off improved takedown defense. He even scored a brief takedown on Miocic to land a few good shots on the ground.
In Round 2, Miocic opened up a little more and it left him open for Ngannou’s power. Ngannou clipped the champion and Miocic was hurt along the cage. Somehow Miocic regrouped for a brief second to land a counter than stung Ngannou. But it was “Predator” who landed a brutal punch that knocked Miocic to the canvas. Ngannou launched one final shot but it wasn’t necessary.
