Conor McGregor can’t seem to win a UFC title, so he’ll instead ask the promotion to create one for him. Sort of the same way Ted DiBiase created the “Million Dollar Championship” back in early 1989 when the WWF belt continued to elude him.
“I feel it’s time to break out this baby for the next fight,” the former champ wrote on Twitter. “I ask the UFC to please create The McGregor Belt. I suggest rose gold and rubies. Think patek rare. Or yellow gold and emeralds possibly. Might be nice also. I’m open to design suggestions. Let’s link up UFC #TheMcGregorBelt.”
McGregor would probably be fighting for the 155-pound title vacated by Khabib Nurmagomedov back in Oct. 2020, but longtime rival Dustin Poirier knocked him out at UFC 257 earlier this year in Las Vegas.
And the Rock-approved “BMF” belt is already taken.
“The Diamond” opted to give McGregor an immediate rematch — since the Irishman stopped him at UFC 178 — so the promotion will instead let Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira duke it out for the lightweight strap.
I guess it beats the WAMMA ring.
