Strikeforce Overeem vs Werdum Results: KJ Noons vs Jorge Masvidal

This fight was to determine who would be facing Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce lightweight title. A great fight standing and didn’t disappoint.
K.J. Noons survived a lot in the first round from Jorge Masvidal, even after being dropped towards the end and having cut on his hairline open up.
The second round Masvidal did more damage swelling up the forehead of Noons and using short elbows on the ground to try and cut up Noons even more. Even when Noons had a chance to finish Masvidal, he couldn’t throw punches to the downed Masvidal as his arms looked very tired.
Noons needed to knock out Masvidal in the last round, he pressed but just couldn’t get the knock out and looked pretty bad overall in the fight.
Masvidal will now get a crack at Melendez for the lightweight title after winning by unanimous decision. Masvidal showed some great striking and did a huge number on the face of KJ Noons.
Noons will now go back to the drawing board, he showed tremendous heart tonight and showed he has a great chin, but he just couldn’t pull out the win and was dead from the get-go.
